I cannot believe I'm already in the home stretch. Emphasis on the word 'stretch'... because I feel like my belly has reached maximum capacity. Little Ellory weighs about 6 1/2 lbs and is approx. 20 inches long! She's quite an active little lady, too. Her arms are down low and I can feel her punch my bladder (about as comfortable as it sounds), and her feet are in one side of my rib cage at all times --- tickling away! Other than having a lot of pelvic pressure, I'm feeling great. The most surprising side effect I've been plagued with is leg cramps, which I don't notice until I lie down to go to sleep. Painful charlie horses that won't go away no matter how much I stretch/massage. It's so annoying! But I'm fortunate to not have had any heartburn, constipation, etc. I'm sleeping well --- most nights --- and able to bend down and pick things up, still put my shoes/socks on, go to the gym, etc. I actually shaved my legs the other day --- don't want to scare the hospital nurses! I never thought I'd still be doing these things 2 weeks from my due date. Lucky me!
My 36 week OB appointment revealed that she has dropped (i.e. "engaged") and is in position --- ready to go. Since then I have been dialated 1 cm and 50% effaced. I go back in 2 days to see if there has been any progression. Fingers crossed --- because I'd like her to debut earlier rather than later. Especially since Jim has to go to India on March 31.

My budding photographer of a friend, Jenny Fogel, was kind enough to use me as her 'muse' for a day to beef up her portfolio. And boy was I lucky, because she is quite a talent!!! I am so glad to be able to capture this amazing moment in life... where I'm growing one. :)

Proud Poppi
My dad (Poppi) and Shawna (Nawni) bought Ellory her changing table --- which obviously can be converted to any kind of table after she's out of diapers. We're all about functional furniture. He assembled it and now it's all ready for use! Thanks to Hank for lending his moral support.

Ellory in 3D... Take 2.
I simply couldn't wait another 8-10 weeks to see our little lady in person, so I made an appointment at 30 weeks to get a 3D/4D sonogram. And I am so glad I did! Thankfully, she has grown out of the 'alien stage' (see previous 3D pics post below), and now resembles an actual baby. A cute one, at that!
She really cooperated and gave us some great shots... even smiling a couple of times. We cannot wait to pinch & kiss those chubby little cheeks!

We're moving HOME!!!
In light of the fact that - in a matter of months - we're actually going to have a little munchkin on the ground, my wonderful saint of a husband decided to talk to the bosses about moving to TX and work out a commuting plan (keeping him in the NYC office Monday-Wednesday of each week). And hallelujah, they said YES! So long, crowded, noisy, dirty yet fabulously-cultured city!
So in a matter of just 4 weeks, we managed to fly to Dallas, find the perfect home, make an offer, have said offer accepted, close on aforementioned home, and move across country to the Lone Star State! My head was spinning and I was more than elated that our little Ellory was going to be born in Texas afterall.

Things that go bump in the night... and mid-day

But I AM feeling Ellory kicking on a daily basis! What first felt like bubbles a couple weeks ago have turned into full fledged punches & kicks. She has a schedule and is active from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. then again from 9-11 p.m. Jim is able to feel it... and you can even see it! I just stare, in awe... so excited to meet our little wonder.

HALF-BAKED!
Now that I'm not praying to the porcelain gods anymore, time is flying! I can't am now 20 weeks and baby Ellory is right on track. Measuring in the 55th percentile, she weighs about 10.5 ounces and it about 9 inches long! I'm starting to feel some movement... sporadically. Feels like popcorn popping! Amazing.
Jim & I were fortunate enough to get to see her for a good hour yesterday during my 20 week sonogram --- in 3D! She doesn't exactly resemble the Gerber baby (yet), but we were assured that it is perfectly normal to have a 'mashed potato-like consistency' at this point. And I think she looks like some BEAUTIFUL mashed potatoes! Jim thinks she has his nose. ;)

16 WEEKS!
Tiny bones in Ellory's ears are in place this week, making it likely that the baby can hear my voice when I'm speaking (or singing in the shower). In fact, studies have found that babies who are sung to while they're in the womb recognize the same tune when it's sung to them after they are born (so choose your baby Muzak with that in mind…). And baby's busily boning up in other ways. For one, the backbone (along with the back muscles) is stronger now — strong enough, in fact, to enable your baby to work on straightening his or her head and neck even more. Baby's crown-to-rump measurement is between four and five inches in length, and weight is hovering around three ounces.
This little one's a looker — with a face that has both eyebrows and eyelashes — but a skinny looker since there's no baby fat yet. And here's the skinny on baby skin: It's practically translucent now, so if you took a peek inside your uterus, you'd be able to see your baby's blood vessels under that thin skin.
